Trust Through Transparency in curriculum adoption

  • Eureka has truly partnered with parents
  • Eureka has built trust through transparency

No district has done more than Eureka over the past several years to foster true community inclusion nor exercised more transparency in the curriculum adoption process. While some school board meetings turned into marathon sessions where proposals were shelved due to controversy over proposed adoptions, recent proposed adoptions in Eureka (including math, science and history/social studies) were all unanimously adopted by the Board of Trustees following a multi-year process that showed parents and the community at large that Eureka was open to feedback, eager to share proposed adoptions and do so in a way that provided meaningful ways for the community to participate in the review process, even including making staff available on the weekends and in the evenings so that working parents had a meaningful opportunity to review the proposed curriculum.
