Public education is under attack. In a time of crisis, it is critical to turn to proven leadership. Renee has successfully served three terms on the board, providing strong fiscal stewardship during tough economic times, showing her skills as a keen innovator in adding new academic programs to one of the lowest funded elementary districts in the state and ensuring the continue academic success of Eureka’s students, who consistently receive the highest test scores in Placer County and some of the best scores in all of Northern California.

  • Managing through funding downturns while maintaining sufficient reserves and preserving and growing core academic programs
  • Understanding the many legal complexities associated with running a school district, including funding formulas, Special Education and many other provisions of Education Code, the role of the Federal government in providing funds to local school districts and related restrictions
  • Strong relationship with local community leaders, including teachers, principals, Parent Teacher Club leaders and Eureka Schools Foundation leaders
  • Has managed multi-million-dollar budgets in both the private and public sector
  • An advocate for transparency in government as a journalist and lobbyist for the California Newspaper Publishers Association

Dedication to the Community for Over Two Decades.

  • Renee has dedicated over two decades to serving the students of the Eureka Union School District, including ten years (including a term as President) of the Eureka Schools Foundation before her 12 years of service as a member of the Board of Trustees. 
  • Served as a community volunteer in many capacities, including coaching a variety of youth sports and helping to build Feist Park and Granite Community Park.
